M/Y ARIADNEOn a recent trip through the Cape Cod Canal aboard the 124ft ARIADNE, we jammed more adventure and sightseeing into two days than we thought possible.

From Mystic Seaport, an adventure in itself, we cruised the Mystic River, negotiating two historic bridges out into the Atlantic and headed for our anchorage in Buzzards’ Bay. After dinner at anchor we took advantage of the lack of light pollution and used our apps to find stars, planets and constellations – who needs Netflix?

The next day did not disappoint. Early morning fog cleared allowing us a perfect viewing past the Cleveland Ledge light and the Massachusetts Maritime Academy to the Cape Cod Canal entrance in Bourne, MA. Luckily, we hit it at slack tide for an uneventful trip.

Exiting the canal at Sandwich, MA, Captain Ian Berrington pointed our bow towards Provincetown, MA. Where, upon arrival, and on cue – a whale surfaced and then jumped as we entered the harbor. Once anchored, a herd of Grey seals was spotted so we tendered over to make friends – what huge heads! Later, the seals greeted us while kayaking!

On a brief trip ashore, we explored the town and marveled at all the art galleries. The perfect weather brought people from far and wide to this picturesque New England town.

Many charter yachts are available for short cruises in New England through October. Please contact us for more information. Link to M/Y ARIADNE brochure.
