As you are getting ready to set sail on your dream yacht charter vacation, I am going to dive into one of the most common questions I get:

‘What should I pack?’

Trust me, packing for a yacht is nothing like packing for a typical trip—it’s all about balancing style, practicality, and a touch of luxury.

First things first—less is more. Yacht cabins don’t have the same closet space as your home, so packing smart is key. Let’s break down some of the essentials.

1. Clothing: Mix of casual, dressy, and daytime casual. The best options are breathable clothing for those sunny days on deck—think shorts, sundresses, and t-shirts. And don’t forget your swimwear and coverups for when you want to take a dip.

Many charters include elegant 3-5 course dinners on board and many guests choose to dine out a few times during the week, so pack a few smart-casual outfits. A nice dress or a collared shirt or polo with tailored pants will do the trick.

Let’s talk layers. When the sun goes down, evenings on the water can get a little breezy. A lightweight sweater or a wrap will ensure you’re comfortable at all times.

What about Footwear? Did you know you can’t wear shoes on board?? But you can wear them on shore and water shoes are also recommended for exploring rocky shores.

And don’t forget about Sunscreen & Hats!

The sun is intense on the water and while there are shaded areas on board it can be hard to escape. Make sure you have reef-safe sunscreen, a wide-brimmed hat, and quality sunglasses to help with the glare.
A lightweight, foldable bag will also come in handy to carry your essentials.

Don’t forget your phone charger, portable power bank, and any adapters you might need.

While many people use their cell phones to Capture those breathtaking moments at sea, go pro’s are also a great option for watersport footage.

Next up – toiletries. While many yachts provide basics, you’ll want your favorite products on hand.

We also recommend a dry bag. You can get one on Amazon and they are great for keeping valuables safe and dry during water activities.

Lastly, Reading Material & Entertainment

A good book or e-reader can come in handy when it comes to longer sails or lounging on the deck.

Remember, the goal is to pack smart and light—enough to enjoy every moment of your journey without the hassle of overpacking and not having a place to put all the things you want to unpack.
