Since entering the yachting industry, Sandro has worked as Deckhand, Cook/Stew, Sole Chef, Dive Instructor and First Mate on both sailing and motor yachts throughout the Mediterranean, Caribbean, Bahamas and French Polynesia. His broad skill set includes guest service, provisioning, housekeeping, deck operations, maintenance support, watchkeeping, mechanical assistance and high-quality meal preparation, with particular strengths in French, Italian, Mediterranean and South American cuisine. A qualified PADI Instructor with multiple diving specialisations, he also brings extensive experience in watersports, underwater maintenance and expedition-style operations. João Guilherme Marques is a highly accomplished sailing yacht captain with extensive offshore experience and a strong technical background developed through years of commanding and maintaining performance sailing yachts. Originally from Portugal, he has logged over 40,000 nautical miles, completed more than 10 ocean passages and participated in multiple transatlantic crossings throughout the Atlantic, Caribbean and Mediterranean. As Captain of the 27m SY Liberty, João held full responsibility for navigation, engineering, maintenance, budgeting, procurement and owner operations, while successfully managing major refit projects and technical upgrades that significantly improved the vessel’s performance and reliability. His career also includes senior positions aboard prestigious yachts such as SY Atalante, SY Padma II, SY Thalia and the 51m Royal Huisman SY Borkumriff IV. Known for his hands-on leadership style, strong engineering knowledge and meticulous attention to detail, João combines exceptional seamanship with practical expertise in shipyard management, rigging, hydraulics, electrical systems and safety management. Holding an RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Ocean 200GT Commercial Endorsement, MCA engineering and safety qualifications, and fluent in Portuguese, English and Spanish, he is a dedicated and highly capable captain with a proven track record in both private and commercial sailing yacht operations.
