Erick was born on August 31, 1999, in the city of Guayas, where his parents are also from. He lived there until 2015, the year in which he moved to the Galapagos, to Santa Cruz Island, thanks to his father's job where he was hired to work on the island as a carpenter and fiberglass technician. After his father's contract started, he brought the family with him to the islands, where Erick finished his high school studies and lived for at least three years. After that, he returned to the city of Guayaquil, where he worked and studied at the university until the pandemic hit. In 2021, Erick had the opportunity to work on tourist boats, and with the help of his parents, he was able to take the courses necessary to work on board as a deckhand. January 2022 marked the beginning of a new chapter in his life: working at sea on tourist boats. His first vessel was the M/Y Carina, where he developed skills as a deckhand/cabin attendant. He worked on that boat for one year before the opportunity arose to work with Galagents, where he has now been employed for about 1.5 years. Every four years, he must renew his certifications to continue working and advancing in his career, which he looks forward to doing to ensure he works at the highest standards.
