Gareth was born and raised on the sub-tropical east coast of South Africa, near Durban.
He was exposed to the sea from a young age and developed a deep passion for the ocean. A highly competent waterman, he feels at home on, in or under the water.
With a 20 year career at sea Gareth will ensure a safe and enjoyable charter experience for the discerning guest.
Gareth’s love for the sea and positive attitude are a winning combination with both crew and guests and he will always be the first to lend a helping hand and get involved.

Steven spent most of his life in and around Cape Town, South Africa, where he worked for a yachting company in which he was responsible for the installation of plumbing and systems on newbuilds.
This encouraged Steven to pursue a career in the superyacht industry, where he could combine his passion for boats with the opportunity to travel the world, meet new people and gain further experience at sea.
Steven has now been in the industry for a year and a half and hopes to further his career and become a 2nd officer in the next two years.
His enthusiasm is second to none, and he loves nothing more than getting involved with guests and ensuring they have the very best time onboard.

Having grown up on a farm in warm and sunny Zululand, South Africa, David’s upbringing has inspired a passion for the outdoors and all that nature has to offer.
A dedicated individual, with a passion for the maritime industry and a background in personal training, David brings a unique set of skills and experiences to the role of a super yacht deckhand.
His personal training background enables him to provide exceptional service to guests who seek to maintain their fitness routines while on board, possessing the knowledge in designing tailored exercise programs and offering guidance on nutrition, ensuring guests can stay active and healthy during their time at sea.

Ellen hails from the beautiful countryside of Southwest England, and joined the yachting industry back in 2016 after switching careers from the medical field.
Ellen’s natural passions for the luxury hospitality and hosting top service events in beautiful destinations, are reflected in her drive and positive attitude with both her team and guests alike, ensuring they have an unforgettable stay aboard KAMALAYA!
A large part of Ellen’s yachting career was spent in New York City, where she hosted exclusive events in Manhattan.
Ellen thoroughly enjoys researching local hidden gems, plant-based cuisine and picturesque hikes in new destinations. In her personal time, she enjoys writing, drawing and perfumery.

Konstantinos grew up in a naval family and had his first contact with ships when his uncle, a chief engineer, showed him around a large boat at a young age.
The engine room and its complexities fascinated him, and he chose to pursue a career in marine engineering. Konstantinos enjoys the care of the machinery and the travel opportunities that the yachting industry provides.
He also enjoys water sports, scuba diving and football.

Growing up in Johannesburg, South Africa, Francois has had a lifelong interest in how the inner workings of machines operate. This interest led him to pursue a degree in Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering. Thereafter he worked in the 3D engineering and fabrication sector. Francois eventually found himself working as an extra on the TV show ‘Black Sails’, where coincidentally he built relationships with fellow sailors.
These relationships built the bridge between engineering and yachting for him, and thus his career in the superyacht industry began.

Amber grew up in a small farming town in South Africa with parents who shared a deep love for cooking and food. Amber’s passion for cooking sprouted from a young age and she went on to establish an in-house catering company alongside her father.
She enjoys being creative in the galley and feels as though she can fully express herself through her work. Although her job title wouldn’t express it, Amber loves being outdoors and is very fond of nature. Amber appreciates using the great outdoors as inspiration for her food.

Maeve is from a barrier island off the coast of North Carolina, known as the Outer Banks. Living on an island naturally gave way to a love for the beach and ocean alike, where she spent many summers working as an ocean rescue swimmer.
Maeve went on to attend George Mason University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology, Law, and Society.
After completing her studies, Maeve joined the world of yachting and quickly became enamoured with the lifestyle and opportunities it provided.
Maeve has cruised both the Caribbean and the Mediterranean and is looking forward to sharing many more adventures with crew and guests alike onboard KAMALAYA.

Andreas hails from the small city of Salzburg in Austria, and has been passionate about food from a very young age.
After a Chef de Cuisine position at age 20, he decided to dip his toes into the realm of travel and his first backpacking adventures inspired him to initiate his career at sea by working onboard a cruise liner.
Andreas made his move into the yachting industry in 2018 and his first experience was a sail yacht where he won the Chef’s Competition at a Yacht Charter Show.
This truly accelerated his career and now with several Head Chef positions under his belt, he’s going nowhere but up and is looking forward to tantalising the guests’ palates onboard KAMALAYA, with his culinary delicacies!

Hailing from Winchester, England, Aiden grew up in a seafaring family. From an early age he shared his family’s passion for the ocean and spent many a holiday by the beach, scuba diving in the Cayman Islands. Wanting to follow in his father’s footsteps, Aiden has aspirations of also becoming a Superyacht Captain.
Having grown up around yachts, Aiden has gained a deep understanding of the superyacht industry and he enjoys bringing his passion for the ocean into his work. When not working on deck, you’re most likely to find Aiden wakeboarding, scuba diving or checking out the local hiking trials.
