Originally from Cape Town, Charel grew up with the ocean on his doorstep. He started his career in the South African military, where he trained as a combat engineer and diver. That background gave him a strong technical foundation and a calm, focused approach to work.
After leaving the military, he became a qualified PADI dive instructor, working in Asia and combining his love of diving with time spent on the water. His first full-time role in yachting came in 2018, when he worked as a chase boat skipper, eventually stepping up to run a 28m yacht based in Egypt.
Charel joined NERO as second officer, bringing solid experience, a hands-on attitude, and an easy going, professional manner that fits well with both crew and guests. When he’s off duty, he’s likely to be found kitesurfing or exploring somewhere outdoors. He speaks Afrikaans as his first language and is always happy to share a bit about life back in South Africa.

Born in France, Cyril brings a deep passion for creating memorable culinary experiences to NERO. His career spans a diverse range of restaurants and hotels, each shaping his expertise and fueling his commitment to excellence.
Cyril’s culinary journey began in a traditional seafood restaurant on the coast of Brittany, where he developed a strong appreciation for fresh, seasonal produce and the elegance of simplicity in flavour. He went on to expand his skills at a prestigious Relais & Châteaux property in England and further honed his craft in the high standards of a Michelin-starred restaurant in Switzerland.
His path then led him to a luxury resort in French Polynesia, where he embraced the opportunity to work with tropical ingredients and explore multicultural cuisines. This global experience has given Cyril a dynamic and versatile approach to cooking.
Transitioning into the yachting industry allowed Cyril to merge his love for food with his passion for travel. As a superyacht chef, he thrives on delivering exceptional meals in constantly evolving settings, always maintaining the highest standards of service, creativity, and precision. For Cyril, this role perfectly embodies the spirit of adventure and hospitality.

Lotte was born and raised in Næstved, Denmark, where the yachting industry is far from a common career path. Driven by a strong passion for travel, she quickly fell in love with the idea of embracing every opportunity to explore the world.
She has lived abroad in Greece, spent time sailing the Caribbean, and travelled extensively across the globe – with the goal of visiting all seven continents. Her adventurous spirit is matched by her athletic background; as an elite gymnast in her youth and a student of Biology and Chemistry, transitioning into the role of a spa therapist on yachts was a natural step.
Lotte brings a calm, professional presence to the wellness space on board, combining scientific understanding with physical discipline. Outside of work, she enjoys yoga, surfing, soaking up the sun, and any activity that gets her adrenaline pumping.

David was born in London and holds dual UK and Irish nationality, inherited from his parents. Coming from a family of sailing enthusiasts, he developed a passion for the water at an early age, racing dinghies and windsurfing, and even spent a year teaching scuba diving.
He began his career in the media industry in London, but his love for travel and sport took him on a campervanning trip around Australia, following the British and Irish Lions in 2001. Afterward, he enjoyed a ski season in Courchevel, where a fortunate encounter with a yacht captain introduced him to the yachting industry. The rest, as they say, is history. After qualifying as a Yacht Captain, David had the privilege of captaining several superyachts, including a decade at the helm of SILVER ANGEL, followed by NAUTILUS, a privately-run, dual-season yacht.
David joined NERO in October 2023, bringing with him extensive cruising experience in the Mediterranean, Caribbean, Indian Ocean, and the United States.
When David is not captaining NERO, he can be found at home in the Cotswold's with his lovely family - his wife Kate, their three young daughters, and their dachshund. In his spare time, he enjoys catching up on sports and spending time outdoors, running, cycling, hiking, and skiing during the winter.

David was born in Auckland and is the eldest of six children. He began sailing as a teenager with the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron Youth Training Programme. He studied Law at the University of Auckland and worked as a commercial lawyer for four years before returning to university to pursue a Master of Commerce degree.
In 2002, David discovered the yachting industry in the South of France and decided to pursue a career in yachting. He started as a Deckhand on VA BENE and later advanced to Chief Mate on LADY ANN MAGEE in 2007. After qualifying as a Yacht Captain, he joined MEAMINA in 2010 as Chief Officer/Relief Captain before joining NERO.
David has over 20 years of experience on charter yachts, having captained MEAMINA in the Mediterranean, Caribbean, and Maldives, as well as during an Atlantic crossing. He has also completed two crossings with armed security in naval convoys from the Suez Canal to the Indian Ocean.
Before entering the yachting industry, David competed in Ironman triathlons and now enjoys cycling. Like many on NERO, David appreciates a good coffee and is honing his skills in latte art.

Ayeisha was born and raised in Cornwall, in the southwest of England, along with her two younger siblings. Growing up, she was actively involved in sports, with football being her favorite. Ayeisha was talented enough to play in a semi-professional football league, where she competed against teams like Manchester United Ladies, Birmingham City Ladies, and Cheltenham Ladies.
After college, Ayeisha continued her passion for sports by becoming a fitness and personal trainer. It was during this time that a passing comment from a friend suggested she leave Cornwall and try a new career in the superyacht industry. Despite having no sailing background, her sense of adventure and determination led her to change her career - and her life - forever.
In 2010, she completed a season with Sunsail flotilla yachts, looking after their Dubrovnik flotilla. While in Croatia, she was captivated by the superyachts she saw and knew that was where she wanted to be. Six months later, she secured her first role as a deckhand. Ayeisha’s passion for the industry was ignited, and she was eager to progress further and expand her knowledge. She is currently studying for her Master
