Captain MarkMeet Mark, your accomplished and adventurous captain aboard Ripple. Born in Japan and raised in England by American parents, Mark has always possessed a deep-seated passion for voyaging and all things nautical.
Mark's sailing journey began at the tender age of 13 when he completed his RYA day skipper course on a 32' sloop, navigating the picturesque French and English coasts. His love for the sea led him to pursue a degree in Marine Biology and Coastal Ecology at the University of Plymouth, where he also obtained his Yacht Master certification. During this time, Mark worked as a local dive guide and RIB pilot, honing his skills and knowledge of the marine environment.
Driven by a desire to explore the world, Mark embarked on a career as a professional dive guide and instructor, working in various locations across the globe. With thousands of dives under his belt, including a remarkable 4.5-hour dive to 260' on a rebreather to explore a war wreck in Vanuatu, Mark's expertise in the underwater realm is unparalleled.
Over the past 17 years, Mark has been an integral part of the luxury yachting industry, earning his MCA Master 3000 and Y4 engineer licenses. One notable highlight of his career was his time spent with the race vessel 'Earthrace,' where he and a team of four crew members circumnavigated the globe in a record-breaking 60 days aboard a 78' motor yacht – a World Record that still stands today!

Chef Kathryn
Born and raised in Central Florida, Chef Kathryn developed a deep love for the ocean early on—surfing and fishing along the coast before eventually taking up sailing as an adult. Her natural affinity for the water has grown over the years through racing regattas on the Chesapeake Bay, sport fishing, and crewing passages aboard private yachts. These experiences have awarded her thousands of nautical miles throughout the Caribbean and along the Eastern Seaboard of the United States.
Kathryn’s culinary journey began at just 14, working in a local deli after school. She quickly rose through the kitchen ranks, eventually stepping into line cook roles in high-volume restaurants, where she thrived under pressure. After time away to explore other ventures and raise a family, she returned to hospitality to run her family’s bar—reigniting her love for crafting meaningful experiences through food and service.
Over time, Kathryn’s relationship with food evolved into something deeply holistic. Cooking became a way to connect people, honor local environments, and nourish both body and soul. Inspired by her extensive travels, her cooking style is eclectic and intuitive—she may serve fresh ceviche one day and prepare local fare from the port the next. She is passionate about clean, fresh ingredients and tailoring every meal to guest preferences and dietary needs, including gluten-free, vegetarian, and allergy-conscious requests.
A registered nurse as well as a chef, Kathryn embodies the intersection of care and cuisine. After the COVID pandemic, she leaned into travel, cooking, and mindful living—which eventually led her to the world of yachting, where all her passions converge.
When she’s not in the galley, Kathryn enjoys staying active and grounded—spending time with her three children, camping, fishing, hiking, skiing, golfing, going to concerts, and working out. For her, cooking aboard a yacht is not just a job—it’s a mindful labor of love, delivered with warmth, skill, and a genuine joy for making every moment onboard unforgettable.

Deckhand / Stew Caitlin Green
With a deep love for the ocean and a drive for adventure, Caitlin Green has spent the past three years working aboard sailing and power catamarans along the East Coast and beyond. She has logged over 8,000 nautical miles, from the quiet anchorages of Chesapeake Bay to Fort Lauderdale’s busy waterways and through the locks of the Panama Canal.
As a Deck/Stew, Caitlin brings a solid foundation in both exterior and interior yacht operations. Whether handling lines, assisting with water sports, standing watch, or setting up for guest arrivals, she approaches every task with focus and enthusiasm. She’s equally at home mixing an Espresso Martini as she is running the deck, and her dedication to seamanship and safety is reflected in her recent achievement of a 200 Ton Captain’s License.
Earlier in life, Caitlin worked in hospitality, first waitressing and later managing a bed and breakfast overlooking a bay known for its whales. Those experiences honed her eye for detail and service, skills she now brings to life at sea.
Joining Ripple is a proud step for Caitlin, and she’s eager to help create smooth sails, good memories, and plenty of laughs for guests along the way.

We are a family of 4 and nothing was too much trouble, the food was amazing (think high end restaurant quality) and we were always in the best position possible for any stop - the crew were absolutely superb.
We enjoyed a mixture of beach bars, snorkeling, fishing, kayaking and paddle boarding, enjoying drinks in the floating seats and some retail therapy in the shops.
We could not recommend this vacation more highly - very relaxing and enjoyable. The crew should be recognized for wonderful service.

First of all, we are not owners of a boat but recently we chartered for a week with other couples for my husbands 40th birthday. this trip was a "bucket list" type of vacation for my husband and I and it was even more amazing than expected!
The VI were beautiful and our crew was spectacular! they were so nice and took care of us hand and foot. It was so refreshing to be on vacation and not have to lift a finger if we didn't want to. They were able to recommend the best places to visit and we enjoyed each and every one!
This was, hands down, the best vacation we have been on to date and we would highly recommend it to others!

The atmosphere your provided, the quality of the food, the drinks, the place settings, the itinerary, the anchoring, the cleanliness of the boat; everything was incredible. You guys did it better than we thought it could be done.

Ripple is a beauty! From the moment we stepped aboard we were engulfed in luxury and relaxation. Mark and Nicole greeted us with chilled towels, light snacks, and a celebratory glass of champagne. Nicole’s culinary creations are a delightful treat. Our feasts were beautifully presented with fine details of matching table linens and table décor to compliment our colorful cuisine. Nicole was always cheerful, funny, and accommodating to all our needs (even ensuring fresh brewed coffee for this early bird). We were in good hands with Captain Mark to embark on many adventures underway. He was always spot on with preparing for our day’s activities with the abundance of toys aboard Ripple. Ripple is so spacious! With multiple guests, you can still find peaceful spots to relax as you sail to your next destination. Our bedroom was roomy, comfortable, and always clean. I feel at home on Ripple and can’t wait to come back again and again.
My wife Judy, Three sons and their wives and myself had a fantastic vacation on our
catamaran cruise aboard Ripple 11-18 January 2025. This was our third catamaran
chartered cruise with our broker over the past 15 years and was by far the
best trip of all!!
Our Ripple crew of three was attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. Captain Mark
has impressive sailing and diving experience and our party of eight quickly trusted
his leadership. He managed his assistant crew members in exemplary manner with
respect and kindness. He demonstrated total commitment to the safety and comfort
of his guests aboard Ripple. For example, without any prompting or requests from
our party, he quietly traveled by dinghy to shore on two mornings to restock beer
for the ship’s bar without additional charge or negative judgment. The scuba diving
opportunity for two of us who are certified divers was expected but the Discover
Diving course under Mark’s tutelage as a PADI Divemaster for our middle son Joe
was unexpected and gave him a wonderful introduction to scuba during three dives
on this trip. He was thrilled to have this opportunity and experience.
First mate and Chef Michael did a phenomenal job in the galley with sumptuous and
satisfying meals for us and he navigated the vegetarian requirements of two of our
daughter in laws without a glitch. He provisioned the charter perfectly according to
our menu preferences and his own extensive experience. Unplanned highlight
culinary experiences include fresh sashimi from fresh caught fish
on an outrigger trawling line and lure as well as fresh baked Sourdough bread
accompanying several meals! Jeanique is a friendly and patient Second Mate and
First Rate Bartender and was extremely attentive to us, never leaving an empty
glass during evening happy hours.
Owner operator Mark Russell maintained an impeccably clean and comfortable yacht
with excellent ventilation with well functioning air conditioning on warm nights and
open hatches and sea breezes in the mornings. Our sailing itinerary was perfect as
we reached from St Thomas and St John USVI, through BVI Norman, Cooper and
Virgin Gorda Islands and out to and back from Anegada then to Jost Van Dyke and
final night on the water off St John. Judy and I agree with our trip highlights being
touring the north shore beaches of Anegada on the Mini Mokes followed by a tasty
lobster dinner and the awesome hike and swim in the Bubbly Pool at Jost.
This family vacation exceeded our expectations and made wonderful lifelong
memories. Even after arriving home the crew of Ripple reached out to us sending
additional photos and trip highlight video. Our broker provided excellent
service and prompt response to any questions we had.

this was certainly the ONE OF A KIND vacation.
The absolute BEST vacation we have ever taken—and we have been on 30+ vacations. Mark, Kate, and Nela were a huge part of why we all loved our adventure. Everything was perfect. The yacht was clean and well-maintained. Our cabins were comfortable. The cockpit was comfortable, and there was enough shade. Nela cooked us 5+ delicious breakfasts, lunches, dinners, appetizers, and snacks. Mark and Kate were amazing as well. Kate served us hand and foot, and Mark (main Captain) took us to the coolest places and was overall awesome. I want to go back! The pace and itinerary were perfect. 5/5 Stars!

I have dreamed of this for decades and this far surpassed anything I have imagined. Mark, Shawna and Euan, you are such beautiful people! I leave with so many memories I will cherish forever. What a fabulous vacation we had on Ripple. Mark and Nicole were beyond amazing. We have never felt so welcome. The signature drinks were so good that we will try to recreate them at home. We can't wait to tell our friends at home that they need to do this one day.
We were also so lucky to be here and enjoy and meet the band Willow Hill which played on the yacht to an audience floating. in the water. They are such an amazing band . Thank you again for everything. I will be dreaming about this vacation everyday.
Our stay on Ripple was exactly what we dreamed it would be. It was both relaxing and fun. The boat was beautiful, spacious, impeccably clean and equipped with everything from reef-safe sunscreen to scuba equipment fitted for our family, and every kind of toy in between. There were plenty of places for quiet, private conversations for 2, or comfortable, whole-family gatherings (we were 6 adults). (The fact that everyone had their own en suite bathrooms/showers was a huge selling point for us, too!)
Our Captain, Mark, was knowledgeable, professional, safety-conscious — but most of all, FUN! We left the itinerary up to him and he delivered the best scuba and snorkeling spots at the right times for great visibility considering how the ocean floor can get churned up with weather. He made sure that everyone was having fun, prepared specialty cocktails (e.g., "Slippery Ripple” and “A Ripple In Time,” etc.), but was always cognizant of the line between stimulating activities and restful relaxation - both of which were needed by our group - and he always read the situations/moods perfectly.
Part of being completely relaxed and totally spoiled is not having to do so much as to even DECIDE what to have for dinner. Having received all of our preferences and aversions, Chef Nicole surprised us 4 times a day with meals perfectly catered to each of our palates - which was not easy as our preferences were varied, including one hard-core Vegan. Everything was super-fresh, beautifully presented, and marvelously delicious. I wish I could have taken her home! Her genuinely happy disposition proved that she was doing what she loved to do - and it couldn’t have been more appreciated by our group.
We have been to the US/BVI several times for bareboat and crewed charters — and cannot recommend this boat or the crew more highly.
What a way to begin a new year! From the first welcome to the final mooring and meal, this experience was everything and more. Thanks to all three of you for your expertise, hospitality and playfulness. You made a lot of not-so-young people very very happy.

Words cannot describe what an amazing vacation this as on ripple. You both were wonderful and this entire experience start to finish was amazing. You made us so comfortable and you are both so much fun and esasy to be with. The food was over the top - out of this world, phenomenal - shall I go on?

The activities on board were so much fun - spear-fishing, sea scooters, scuba, snuba, tubing and just floating in the water. Mark is a master at everything and was so organized and helpful. He is a pro!

My wife Judy, Three sons and their wives and myself had a fantastic vacation on our
catamaran cruise aboard Ripple 11-18 January 2025. This was our third catamaran
chartered cruise with Sailing Directions over the past 15 years and was by far the
best trip of all!!
Our Ripple crew of three was attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. Captain Mark
has impressive sailing and diving experience and our party of eight quickly trusted
his leadership. He managed his assistant crew members in exemplary manner with
respect and kindness. He demonstrated total commitment to the safety and comfort
of his guests aboard Ripple. For example, without any prompting or requests from
our party, he quietly traveled by dinghy to shore on two mornings to restock beer
for the ship’s bar without additional charge or negative judgment. The scuba diving
opportunity for two of us who are certified divers was expected but the Discover
Diving course under Mark’s tutelage as a PADI Divemaster for our middle son Joe
was unexpected and gave him a wonderful introduction to scuba during three dives
on this trip. He was thrilled to have this opportunity and experience.
First mate and Chef Michael did a phenomenal job in the galley with sumptuous and
satisfying meals for us and he navigated the vegetarian requirements of two of our
daughter in laws without a glitch. He provisioned the charter perfectly according to
our menu preferences and his own extensive experience. Unplanned highlight
culinary experiences include fresh sashimi from a large king mackerel fresh caught
on an outrigger trawling line and lure as well as fresh baked Sourdough bread
accompanying several meals! Jeanique is a friendly and patient Second Mate and
First Rate Bartender and was extremely attentive to us, never leaving an empty
glass during evening happy hours.
Owner operator Mark Russell maintained an impeccably clean and comfortable yacht
with excellent ventilation with well functioning air conditioning on warm nights and
open hatches and sea breezes in the mornings. Our sailing itinerary was perfect as
we reached from St Thomas and St John USVI, through BVI Norman, Cooper and
Virgin Gorda Islands and out to and back from Anegada then to Jost Van Dyke and
final night on the water off St John. Judy and I agree with our trip highlights being
touring the north shore beaches of Anegada on the Mini Mokes followed by a tasty
lobster dinner and the awesome hike and swim in the Bubbly Pool at Jost.
This family vacation exceeded our expectations and made wonderful lifelong
memories. Even after arriving home the crew of Ripple reached out to us sending
additional photos and trip highlight video. Sailing Directions provided excellent
service and prompt response to any questions we had. Please feel free to use our

How incredibly blessed we were to get this team. The layout of the boat is great which was the initial reason for the choice of Ripple. Although, what made the trip special and memorable was the team.
Captain Mark took the time to meet me at our place in Florida on his off week - classy. His easy going personality is perfect for our family.
Chef listened to our preferences and kept 2 big boys and the girls satisfied with a variety of delicious healthy and beautifully presented meals.
Damon, the jack of all trades made the trip for my adult children. It wouldn't have been the same without him. He is a combination of fun and hard work.

We've booked sailing trips many times and this trip was absolutely the best of them. We had an amazing week aboard the catamaran, with the best crew we could have possibly gotten.
The crew was fantastic!They were incredibly aware of all our needs and wants. We had amazing, sophisticated meals and appetizers and great cocktails.
The captain is a very experienced sailor and he knew exactly where to take us depending if we wanted bars/people/movement or just a completely peaceful spot. We got along great and they were very helpful in making this a great trip for us, full of activities (paddle board, kayak, wakeboard etc). Cabins and overall boat were kept very clean all the time.
We definitely feel we got more than our money's worth and would tailor our next sailing trip to match dates with this crew, on any yacht.
