For Armand, sailing was initially a means to an end. With a pull to travel, the job was obviously appealing for a young man with the world at his feet. "I couldn't take a job that was not on or near the ocean," he admits. But since then, water has become home.
He is South African through and through: on leave, he goes straight home to his family; out hunting with his father and brother, or settled in for a film with his mother. His favourite corner of the Mediterranean so far is the South of France, won over by the beaches, the clear water, and what he rates as some of the best gelato he has found anywhere. His standing advice to guests is simple: "Almost every town in Europe has its own signature dish, so why not try it?"
Like her colleagues, Ornella Carla has been sailing since she was a teen, though not everyone can boast of learning to sail among Panama’s San Blas Islands. Then, 17 years ago, she made a major decision: “I decided to leave everything behind and begin my career as a sailor, working on sailing ships as a chef.” She hasn’t set foot on land since.
Her days on board generally follow a strict routine: Up at 6am to prepare breakfast for the guests, while also enjoying a moment of solitude over coffee—a moment she considers essential. After lunch, she takes an hour for a swim before preparing dinner. When she’s not in the galley, she’s usually in the sea; “I spend very little time on land.” Two moments gratify her most: sailing—of course—and “knowing that my food nourishes while delighting; when customers compliment me, I feel proud.”
A passionate sailor since childhood, Lucas' career path was a natural extension of his love of the sea. He is happiest waking up at a calm anchorage with nowhere to be until the wind picks up.
His perfect day begins with a quiet morning on the water, paddleboarding or swimming in the morning sunlight, then a sail to wherever looks best on the chart that day; pasta alla vongole somewhere ashore, and then chasing the sunset for the prettiest view. French Polynesia and Fiji are the destinations that stay with him most: “I would highly recommend diving there. The underwater world is simply breathtaking.” On board, he recommends guests do one simple thing: “Let yourself go, take the time to breathe, and appreciate the scenery around you.”

Riley grew up taking holidays on a river in South Africa and spent her student years working in events. So, by the time she finished her BCom in Digital Marketing, a career built around water and guests felt less like a plan and more like an inevitability.
She is openly motivated by the moment a guest has a good day, and takes real pride in being the person who made it happen. Off the boat, she cycles and does yoga; she is a firm believer that moving your body is good for the mind. Thailand is the destination she talks about most, drawn to warm water and tropical coastlines wherever she finds them. The one thing she will always tell guests? "Sometimes you are so busy talking or distracted but try to be in the moment and enjoy it. Remember where you are and how you got there; it’s absolutely gorgeous.”

Accommodations
Roman goddess of outward journeys, Abeona protected travellers, especially those setting off somewhere new. ABEON carries that same promise for every sailor who steps aboard.Classic and unhurried, ABEON is a Royal Huisman ketch with a classic hull and many coastlines behind her. Her two-masted rig was designed for exactly this: long coastal passages harnessing the shifting Mediterranean winds.
On deck, life divides naturally across two cockpits. Forward, a C-shaped sofa and collapsible table sit under a full shade canopy, open to the sea. Aft, it's quieter with the helm, the wake, and a private companionway down to the master suite.
Below, the interiors feel warm and lived-in, with blond teak, good upholstery, and plenty of natural light. The saloon has a proper dining table and a chart area alongside it; the galley is separate, leaving guests to gather undisturbed.
Four ensuite cabins sleep eight: a queen-sized master suite aft with its own cockpit entrance, a VIP double forward, a twin, and a bunk cabin. The crew of four sleep forward, separately.
On the water, there's a Highfield tender with a 40-hp Honda, two paddleboards, five sets of snorkelling equipment, and three inflatable lounge chairs. Air conditioning and Wi-Fi throughout.
