AKIKO is a beautiful 34-meter custom expedition yacht, launched in 2007. This impressive Alloy yacht won five major honours at the 2008 World Superyacht Awards. With a career spanning the Mediterranean, Caribbean, Pacific, and beyond, he brings extensive expertise in vessel operations, crew leadership, and long-range cruising.
Most recently, James spent two years exploring the South Pacific aboard AKIKO, embracing remote cruising and expedition-style adventures that reflect his passion for pushing boundaries and discovering the unfamiliar.

Paulrich “Paul”, originally from South Africa, is the First Mate onboard the award-winning M/Y Akiko. Since entering the yachting industry in 2021, he has gained valuable global experience, developing a strong foundation in deck operations and guest-focused service.
With a background as a specialised welder and fabricator, Paulrich brings a practical, solution-oriented mindset and a natural ability for technical problem-solving—an asset to the smooth running of the yacht. Known for his calm and capable presence, he takes a hands-on approach to all aspects of life on deck.
Passionate about the outdoors, Paulrich thrives in active environments and enjoys training, fishing, kayaking, surfing, and exploring new destinations. Whether coordinating watersports, assisting with operations, or engaging with guests, he is dedicated to creating a safe, seamless, and enjoyable experience on board.

Naturally bubbly and approachable, Lauren is known for her positive energy and strong leadership. She takes pride in maintaining a beautifully run interior, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for creating memorable experiences—whether through elegant table settings, themed evenings, or thoughtful personal touches that elevate every moment on board.
Outside of yachting, Lauren has a strong passion for fitness and the outdoors, alongside a lifelong connection with horses. Having grown up showjumping and training young horses, she developed a deep sense of discipline, patience, and dedication from an early age. A graduate of a Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering, he has progressed through the ranks from Motorman to 3rd Engineer, building a solid foundation in all aspects of engine room operations.
Most recently serving onboard M/Y Attessa IV, Amado has been responsible for maintaining and optimizing complex machinery systems, including propulsion, auxiliary equipment, fuel systems, and onboard technical infrastructure.
