Angus Biffin, also known as “Biff”, grew up in Sydney and Pittwater, Australia. As
the son of a Merchant Captain and Sydney Harbour pilot, his life on the water
began from an early age. By six, he was already racing dinghies and skiffs
competitively, and spent much of his youth cruising with his family along the eastcoast of Australia and throughout the South Pacific.
In 2007, while working as a ferry skipper on Sydney Harbour, Biff was offered his first position overseas, running a motor yacht in the Mediterranean—an opportunity that marked the beginning of his professional yachting career. Since then, he has served as Captain and First Mate on a range of motor and sailing yachts, operating across the Middle East, Indian Ocean, South Pacific, Southeast Asia, and the Mediterranean.
Biff joined the 50m S/Y Silencio as First Mate in July 2012. After obtaining his UK
Master’s certification in 2013, he was promoted to Captain eighteen months later. During his tenure, he led the vessel and crew across the Pacific to French Polynesia and New Zealand, managing busy year-round charter seasons. Following several successful years on board, Biff went on to join the 70m Perini Navi Sybaris, now renamed Badis. In 2019, he joined Asahi.
When off duty, Biff can often be found aboard his own boats in the Caribbean or
Sydney Harbour. He also enjoys kitesurfing and skiing, and has a keen passion for food, rooted in his early experience as an apprentice chef.
A warm smile and a firm handshake from Biff, as you step on board Asahi, set the tone for an exceptional experience on board.

Born in Plymouth, UK, James grew up on Dartmoor, spending most of his free time outdoors on his bike. At the age of nine, he went to boarding school, where he completed his A-levels. During school holidays and weekends at home, James spent much of his spare time sailing and racing dinghies. While at college, he joined the Air Training Corps (ATC), where he learned to fly, shoot, and took part in a wide range of team and individual activities.
After college, James travelled to Australia and New Zealand for a gap year, including three months in the outback working as a jackaroo (farm hand). Upon
returning home, he joined the British Territorial Army and, after completing basic
training, was called up for full-time military service, undertaking a six-month
operational tour in Iraq.
After returning safely to the UK, and with his parents preparing to emigrate, James decided to pursue a new career and entered the yachting industry in March 2005. He has since worked on five different yachts, most of them sailing vessels, and obtained his Master 3000 certification in 2015. Over the years, James has travelled extensively around the world, including time on Drumbeat, serving British royals on Leander, and working for royal clients on other vessels. Throughout his career, his primary focus has always been guest safety and enjoyment. James joined Asahi in 2019.
In his spare time, when he is not busy caring for his son or working on DIY projects at home, James enjoys kitesurfing, riding enduro motorcycles, and hiking in the mountains around Mallorca, where he is based with his family.

Joe is originally from Manchester in the north of England, although he has spent
much of the past decade exploring what the rest of the world has to offer. His
journey began with an exchange year in Canada as part of his university studies in geophysics. During this time, he secured his first professional role with a mineral exploration company, surveying for gold deposits in rural Tanzania. A few bumpy hours in a small, rickety plane—squeezed next to a caged yet still rather vocal chicken—made for a memorable, if unconventional, introduction to working life.
After completing his studies, Joe set off to Australia with a backpack, ready for a new adventure. Among an eclectic mix of jobs along the east coast, the most
memorable was three months of banana farming in tropical Queensland, which
nearly cost him his right thumb. Having saved enough, he travelled to Japan to
pursue a long-held ambition of becoming a ski instructor, spending a season on the slopes. After time in the mountains, Joe decided to head in the opposite direction, relocating to Thailand to train and work as a divemaster, where he was first introduced to the yachting industry.
Joe began his yachting career on M/Y Ace (85m Lürssen) as a green deckhand,
including a short period on its shadow vessel, M/Y Garçon. A subsequent ski season in China coincided with the outbreak of COVID-19, leading to a swift evacuation. He later joined M/Y Relentless (45m Trinity), where he was promoted to Bosun. Joe joined Asahi at the end of 2022.
In his spare time, Joe enjoys training in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, boxing, and Muay Thai;
reading about history and psychology; spending time in nature; and pursuing any activity that promises a sense of adventure.

Arran was born in a small village in the New Forest District of England. Growing up in such a close-knit environment, he developed a strong desire to see the world from a young age. He spent much of his youth sailing in the Solent, near Southampton, and by the age of 21 had saved enough money to turn his ambitions for travel into reality.
His career in yachting began on the French Riviera, where his aunt and uncle reside. Both had worked in the industry for many years, and when his uncle—then a Chief Engineer—took him on as a day worker during the Cannes Film Festival, Arran quickly realised this was the career for him. Shortly afterwards, he joined a yacht as a full-time engineer in Malta.
Arran spent the early part of his career working on classic sailing yachts before
moving into the charter sector on motor yachts. He later returned to his passion for sailing yachts and joined Asahi in Hawaii in 2010.
During his time off, Arran enjoys travelling to some of his favourite destinations
around the world, including the Galápagos Islands. A self-confessed “geek”, he takes a keen interest in technology and enjoys keeping up to date with the latest
developments. He is also passionate about scuba diving, and some of his most
rewarding moments in yachting come from seeing guests return to the surface,
excited to share what they have discovered below.

Dan was born in Scotland overlooking Ben Nevis, but grew up in Oxford until the
age of seven. His family then moved to Newcastle, where he has lived ever since. Dan entered yachting after a long career in the commercial shipping industry, working for P&O worldwide. He eventually decided he wanted a change toward something more personal, working with a smaller crew and a more intimate guest environment compared to the scale of cruise ships.
Dan joined Asahi in 2019, marking his first yacht role, and in 2021 he stepped up to Chief Engineer.
When at home, Dan can often be found in the kitchen with music playing, cooking for friends and family, or travelling to dream destinations for diving or surfing. He considers himself something of an adrenaline junkie and will happily jump out of a plane with a parachute on his back. Dan believes the world is too small not to explore, and is always seeking new adventures and new parts of the world to
discover. Music and live concerts are also a major passion, and he has seen many incredible artists perform, with many still on his list.
Dan enjoys seeing guests make the most of the water toys and diving experiences on board. He is a certified Rescue Diver and is planning to take the next step toward becoming a Divemaster.
Some of his favourite cruising destinations include the Caribbean islands, with their white sandy beaches and bright sunshine, Madeira for its exceptional food and friendly people, and Malta for its rich history and culture.

Nathan grew up on the east coast of Australia, in a small fishing and oyster village just south of Sydney. With both his grandfather and uncle being chefs, he always knew he wanted to follow in their footsteps, beginning his training as soon as he left school. After gaining his qualifications, Nathan worked in restaurants across Australia. His love of travel and adventure then took him to London, West Sussex, the Alps in private chalets, and throughout the Mediterranean in private villas. After hearing about yachting from a school friend years earlier, Nathan was keen to break into the superyacht industry. He flew to Fort Lauderdale in 2009 and secured his first position as a yacht chef. In 2010, Nathan entered the annual Antigua Yacht Charter Chef Competition and placed first and second, helping to establish a strong platform for his future career.
Nathan is inspired by every new destination, culture, and local market, and is
continually energised by the ingredients he discovers each day. His cuisine reflects the diversity of the world, using only the freshest available produce.
When asked his favourite part of the job, Nathan says it is the uniqueness of being able to travel the world, explore global cuisines, cook with exceptional ingredients, and spend time on the open water—all of which make his work a constant joy.
When not in the galley, Nathan enjoys spending time at the beach with his wife and children, often followed by fish and chips (which he does not cook himself).
Nathan’s passion for food and people shines through in every dish he creates. His aim is to ensure that after each meal, guests leave not only satisfied, but with unforgettable, mouth-watering memories.

Sabi was born in the second-largest town in eastern Hungary, Miskolc. He knew
from a very early age that he wanted to become a chef, learning his way around the kitchen from his mother.
At the age of 17, he completed his training at a local catering school. From there, he gained his first professional experience at the award-winning Hotel Palace in
Miskolc. Sabi quickly progressed as a chef within prestigious hotels, and his
amicable attitude and passion were recognised by the manager of Hotel Juno, who offered him a position as Chef de partie. He later moved to Budapest, where he spent six years working as a Sous Chef in extremely busy five-star restaurants.
The transition from hotels to restaurants marked a turning point in Sabi’s career. He then spent the next ten years in Dublin and Italy, perfecting multicultural cuisines ranging from Spanish tapas to traditional Aboriginal staple dishes. During these diverse culinary experiences, he deepened his knowledge and strengthened his passion for global food cultures and regional produce.
In 2014, Sabi began his career as a yacht chef, where he is grateful to share his
extensive knowledge of international cuisine with guests. In 2019 he put his skills to the test and placed second in the Antigua Charter Yacht Show Chef Competition. He looks forward to showcasing his culinary expertise, combining multicultural influences with fresh, locally sourced flavours.

Zack grew up on the east coast of England, where he spent most of his time either
on the water or playing rugby. He started sailing young in Fevas and Toppers and
raced regularly, so being around boats has always felt very natural to him.
When Zack was 17, he moved to the United States to play rugby semi-professionally and ended up staying for four years. During that time, he spent three summers working at a kids’ camp as a lifeguard, sailing instructor, and camp counsellor, which was a great experience—busy days, lots of time on the water, and plenty of good times along the way.
Outside of that, Zack really fell in love with the countryside and the western
lifestyle out there. He enjoys the slower pace, early starts, and being out in wide
open spaces alongside the music scene. It’s something that has stuck with him, and he heads back whenever he can to catch up with friends and enjoy some live music. Zack is easygoing and enjoys keeping active, but is just as happy switching off somewhere quiet. When he’s not on the water, he is usually outdoors in some form.
He joined yachting in 2022 on another 56m Perini Navi, where he spent two and a half years onboard. He recently joined the Asahi crew in early 2026.

Caitlin was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa, and has been part of the yachting industry since 2024. She began her career on a Perini Navi sailing yacht as a sole stewardess before joining Asahi in late 2025. She was introduced to the yacht through her sister, who had previously worked on board and knew Caitlin was eager to expand her experience on larger vessels and learn alongside a team of stewardesses.
Growing up in a large family, Caitlin is no stranger to living and working closely with others. Although deeply connected to her roots, she never imagined she would find herself working on the other side of the world. Since joining the industry, however, she has embraced every opportunity, both on and off the water.
With a love for nature, fashion, fitness, and culture, Caitlin feels she has found a
career that allows her to pursue all of her passions. A self-confessed foodie, she
delights in everything from the exceptional cuisine prepared on board to
discovering new restaurants during crew outings.
Although she enjoys exploring the world, Caitlin still feels a strong pull toward
South Africa and values the opportunity her career provides to return home and
enjoy what she loves most—whether it’s bush holidays or scuba diving along the
coast.
Caitlin believes that holidays are among the greatest gifts we can give ourselves and hopes you enjoy your time on board Asahi, creating many special and lasting memories.

Sarah grew up in Glasgow where, despite the cold she spent much of her childhood sailing around Scotland’s west coast. In her teenage years, her focus shifted to road and track cycling. Racing and training opened the doors to travel, taking her across Europe to compete in events and sparking a lasting love for exploring new places.
At university, Sarah studied Accountancy and Finance. During the summer holidays she traded Scotland’s unpredictable weather for the Greek sunshine, returning to her sailing roots by working as a sailing and windsurfing instructor at various holiday resorts in the Ionian. After graduating, it was an easy decision to postpone the office life of an accountant and fully embrace the seasonal lifestyle swapping spreadsheets for sea views in a small Greek fishing village on Lefkada island.
In the winters she ventured to the Caribbean teaching windsurfing on an island
called Bonaire and to France for a skiing season working as a chalet host.
Over time, Sarah progressed from water sports instruction on the beach to the
offices, overseeing the hotel, apartments, and villa of a windsurfing and wing foiling resort in Vassiliki.
Whilst on a trip to Brazil she met two of the Asahi crew whose stories about life on board inspired her to try and join the yachting industry. She began her yachting journey on a 50m motor yacht in Palma, later an opportunity came up to join the Asahi team in October 2025.
