Nathan grew up on the East Coast of Australia, in a quaint fishing and oyster village just south of Sydney. With both his grandfather and uncle being chefs, he always knew he wanted to follow in their footsteps, commencing his training immediately after leaving school. After acquiring his qualifications, Nathan worked in restaurants across Australia. His love for travelling and adventure then led him to work in various locations, including London, West Sussex, the Alps in private chalets, and all over the Mediterranean in private villas.
Having learned about the Superyacht industry from a school friend, Nathan was enthusiastic about entering the field. In 2009, he took a flight to Fort Lauderdale and skilfully secured his initial position as a Yacht Chef. The subsequent year saw Nathan's active involvement in the annual Antigua Yacht Charter Chef Competition —the most esteemed culinary competition in yachting—he earned the 2nd place helping him set the platform for his future jobs. In 2023, he triumphed over 14 other top chefs to claim victory in the big boat category of the prestigious competition once again.
Nathan's culinary muse lies in every new destination, cultural encounter, and exploration of local markets. The thrill of sourcing the freshest ingredients each morning reflects in his dishes, which encapsulate the rich diversity of the world. When asked about the most gratifying aspect of his job, Nathan expresses the joy derived from the unique combination of global exploration, experimenting with diverse cuisines, utilising premium ingredients, and the liberating experience of being out on the open water.
Beyond the galley, Nathan finds solace in spending days at the beach with his wife and children, concluding with a simple pleasure – fish and chips, a dish he intentionally hasn't prepared himself. Every meal crafted by Nathan resonates with his unwavering passion for both food and people. His mission extends beyond satisfaction; he aims to ensure that each guest walks away not just content but full of unforgettable, mouth-watering experiences.

Hamish’s love for sailing comes from growing up on his family’s 43ft sailing yacht in Auckland, New Zealand. At the age of 10, he set off with his family on his first offshore trip through the south pacific islands to Australia. His strong love and passion for the ocean and sailing inevitably led him to a career in superyachts, where he predominately worked on large motor yachts, such as CLOUDBREAK, SYMPHONY and CONSTANCE before joining ASAHI in early 2019.
Hamish enjoys surfing, diving, kitesurfing, mountain bike riding and yacht racing and loves sharing his passion for all water sports with guests as well as helping them develop new skills and confidence in the water on ASAHI’s large variety of equipment.
He has been able to cruise all over the world but still says that his favourite place is back in his home waters of New Zealand.

Arran was born in a tiny village in the New Forest District in England. Being such a small place, he had the desire to spread his wings and see what else was out there in the world, from a very young age. Arran had been sailing when he was young locally in the Solent, Southampton. At 21, he had saved enough money to spread his wings and see some more of the world. The opportunity came up to start his travels in the French Riviera, where his aunt and uncle live. They had both been working on yachts for many years. His uncle gave him a taste of the industry, by letting him day-work on the yacht he was working on as Chief Engineer, during the Cannes Film Festival. From that moment, he decided this was the life for him, so he quickly joined a yacht, as full time Engineer in Malta. Arran spent the first part of his career working on classic sailing yachts, as he completely fell in love with them. He then moved into the charter scene on motor yachts before returning back to his passion, sailing yachts. In Arran’s spare time, he likes to travel to some of his favourite destinations around the world. Arran is somewhat of a self-confessed ‘geek” so he loves to follow technology pretty closely. He particularly enjoys scuba diving and some of his favourite moments in yachting are watching guests come back to the surface, excited to talk about what they have seen below. Arran’s favourite place to cruise has been the Galapagos Islands. He had the opportunity to cruise this area a while ago and those memories are dear to him to this very day. It had always been his dream to one day visit this Archipelago. He had heard so much about it from a number of sources over the years. Arran joined ASAHI in Hawaii in 2010.

Dan was born in Scotland overlooking Ben Nevis but only lived there for two weeks. He moved to Oxford until he was seven, then moved to Newcastle, where he has been living ever since. Dan got into yachting after many years in the commercial world of shipping. He decided that he wanted a change and knew yachting could offer that change. He wanted something more personal and to work with a small number of guests, rather than the thousands you have on a cruise ship. Dan joined ASAHI 2019, which is the first yacht he has worked on, and in 2021 Dan stepped up as Chief Engineer. When Dan’s at home, he’s in the kitchen with music playing, cooking for friends and family or traveling to dream destinations for diving or surfing. He considers himself a bit of an adrenalin junky and will happily throw himself out of a plane with a parachute on his back. Dan sees the world as being too small not to see it, so he’s always looking for new adventures and new parts of the world to discover. Music and concerts is also a big passion for Dan. He has seen some amazing artists perform and hopes to add more to his list. Dan loves seeing the guests enjoying the water toys and diving. He is a Rescue Diver himself and is looking to take further steps to become Dive Master. Some of his favourite cruising destinations have been the Caribbean Islands with their white sandy beaches and bright sun, Madeira’s amazing food and friendly people, and Malta with all its history and culture.

Gary was born in Glasgow, raised in Cornwall, and settled in Sussex. If Gary had to chose between city, country or by the water, it would certainly be the latter, as he feels nothing quite compares to open water. After finishing school, Gary began a four-year apprenticeship in electrical engineering, which proved to be a great opportunity for gaining valuable experience. With his hunger for problem solving and a determination to help others - he had the skills that provided a smooth transition into yachting in 2017. Gary’s yachting career has predominantly taken place in the Mediterranean Sea, but he was fortunate enough to spend an exciting winter season between South Korea and Japan. He has worked on several boats, both motor and sail, and joined ASAHI in 2021. Gary has a strong passion for sports, whether football, rugby, NFL, Cross-fit or Formula1, whenever possible, you will either find him playing, reading about it, or watching them in his spare time.

Joe is originally from Manchester in the North of England, although he has spent most of the last decade attempting to explore the variety other parts of the world have to offer. This started with an exchange year in Canada, as part of his university education as a geophysicist, where he secured his first proper job with a mineral exploration company, surveying for gold deposits in rural Tanzania; a few bumpy hours in a small rickety plane, squashed next to a caged, yet still obnoxious chicken, was a questionable and memorable first introduction to the world of work.
After completing more studies, Joe grabbed a backpack and headed to the land down under, ready for a couple of schooners and a shrimp on the barbie. Amongst an eclectic mix of jobs up and down the east coast, the most memorable was the three months of infamous banana farming in tropical Queensland, which nearly cost him his right thumb. Having saved enough pennies, Joe took a flight to Japan to become the thing he had idolised as a youth, a ski instructor, and worked a season on the slopes. After spending enough time above sea level, it was time to go in the opposite direction, so Joe relocated, to train and work as a divemaster under the waves in Thailand, where he became acquainted with “yachties”.
He first joined M/Y Ace (85m Lürssen) as a green deckhand, including a short spell on its shadow vessel, M/Y Garçon. A few months away in China for another ski season was perfectly timed with the discovery of Covid, leading to a rather swift evacuation, and followed by employment on M/Y Relentless (45m Trinity), where he was eventually promoted to Bosun. Joe joined ASAHI in the end of 2022.
In his spare time, Joe loves to: train Brazilian jiu jitsu, boxing and muay thai; read about history and psychology; get out into nature; and do just about anything that sounds exciting.

Matt was born in England but was raised in Durban, South Africa, which is where his love for adventure sports started. Matt competed in every bicycle race he could find, and by the age of 13 he had podiumed in the South Africa/ African triathlon championship. At the age of 17, Matt felt the need to broaden his horizons and decided to leave the nest and found himself in a crew house in Antibes, ready to join the yachting industry.
Before joining ASAHI in July 2022, Matt worked as a Deckhand on Elvis Magic, an Oyster 66.
In his free time you can find Matt training for the next race, whether it be a triathlon or an obstacle course, riding motor bikes in the mountains or doing as many water sports as possible. He loves trying new sports and never turns down an opportunity to learn a new skill.

Sabi was born in the second biggest town in East Hungary: Miskolc. He knew at a very early age that he wanted to be a chef, learning his way around the kitchen from his mother. At age of 17 he finished training at a local catering school; from there he had his first professional experience at the award-winning Hotel Palace in Miskolc. Sabi quickly worked his way up as a chef in prestigious hotels. His amicable attitude and his passion were rewarded by the manager of Hotel Juno, who offered him a position as a Chef de Partie. Sabi then moved to Budapest, where he spent six years working as a sous chef in insanely busy five-star restaurants. The transition from hotels to restaurants marked a turning point in Sabi’s life. The next ten years in he spent in Dublin and Italy perfecting multicultural cuisines, from Spanish tapas to Aboriginal staple dishes. It was during these broad-range culinary experiences that he was able to establish his knowledge and confirm his passion for the various cultures and traditions related to food and regional produce. In 2014 Sabi began his career as a yacht chef, where he is grateful to provide his vast knowledge of international cuisines for guests. Two years ago, Sabi put his skills to the test and he was placed second in the Antigua Charter Yacht Show’s Chef Competition. He looks forward to showing guests what he can provide with his multi-cultural culinary knowledge combined with local, fresh flavours.
