After many years in the professional side of hotel management in Europe, Emma came to Tahiti on a one-way ticket to work for a famous hotel chain. Luckily, Emma found her way to Askari in 2006 after several land-based years in hotel management in the Society, Tuamotu, and Marquesas archipelagoes of French Polynesia. All of Emma’s prior experience and travel background make her an asset and a pleasure to have onboard. While a native French speaker, you will often find Emma with her delightful French accent pointing out a special feature of an island coastline in English while underway. Her genuineness, attention to detail, and caring nature will enhance your stay. Emma also is a terrific cook and takes her turn in the galley alongside our talented chef. Her keen interest in food and service is an unbeatable combination for Askari guests.

Jen grew up on the coast of South Africa, learning to float before she could even talk—by the age of two. With a deep-rooted love for nature, and the ocean in particular, she naturally gravitated toward a life on and around the water. As a teenager, she spent countless hours volunteering as a lifeguard, later working for several years as an ocean freediving guide. Her passion for the sea led her to study Oceanography at university. A true thalassophile, Jen thrives in and around the water. She’s a PADI Rescue Diver who enjoys scuba diving, freediving, surfing, and spearfishing. When she’s not in the ocean, you’ll likely find her hiking, practicing yoga, snorkeling, or simply soaking up the outdoors. Friendly, enthusiastic, and always ready to lend a hand, Jen brings a positive spirit and a strong work ethic to her role as a deckhand on board Askari, where she’s excited to continue growing her career at sea.
