About AWAY
Built by Italian yard Sanlorenzo in 2009, and refitted in 2023, AWAY (ex. AWOL) is one of Sanlorenzo’s popular SD122 models and is ideally suited for charter with ample spaces on board, a stellar crew and an array of water toys. She has been set up with families in mind and is sure to prove a popular choice for family charters and smaller groups alike.
AWAY has a bright modern interior with pops of colour and beautiful art work throughout the vessel. The main salon off the aft deck, is home to lounge seating and a full formal dining table. For a more relaxed atmosphere, guests can enjoy the sky lounge which leads out to the upper deck and features sweeping views, an entertainment system, additional seating and a desk.
She offers accommodation for ten with a vast master suite, two double cabins and two twin cabin with a Pullman each. All cabins are bright and spacious with en suites and entertainment systems, providing beautiful spaces for guests to retreat to after an enjoyable day on board.
Outdoor spaces are plentiful with ample seating and dining spaces throughout. Her upper deck features a sheltered space with an al fresco dining table. Her spacious Jacuzzi and plush sun pads invite guests up to the flybridge for ultimate relaxation. Portuguese-style seating and more sun pads can be found on the forward deck, while padded seating is also provided on the bow. Guests will be spoiled by choice of deck spaces to retreat to!
If relaxing on board is not enough of a draw, AWAY is sure to appeal to even the most dedicated water sports lover as she carries an array of water toys and equipment. Her impressive lineup includes an Axopar Sun-Top chase tender, Jetsurfs, SeaBobs, a broad selection of water toys & inflatables, as well as electric land scooters, suitable for adults and children, that are perfect for exploring and making the most of time on land. Powered by twin CAT engines she cruises smoothly at 12 knots in the utmost comfort, with her many amenities including stabilisers at anchor and underway.

Born and raised in a small coastal town in South Africa, Captain Christoff Spies developed a deep passion for the ocean through surfing and diving from an early age. His maritime career began aboard dive vessels, where he honed his seamanship and developed a lifelong love for ocean exploration.
After earning his RYA Yachtmaster qualifications in 2005, Christoff completed his first transatlantic crossing from South Africa to Belize, an experience that launched an impressive superyacht career spanning more than 20 years. Throughout this time, he has commanded vessels ranging from 80 to 215 feet, building extensive experience in both private and charter operations.
Holding a USCG 1600/3000 ITC Oceans Merchant Mariner License, Captain Christoff is respected for his calm leadership, technical expertise, and guest-focused approach. He leads with professionalism, warmth, and a commitment to creating exceptional experiences for both owners and charter guests.

Justin has spent his life on and around the ocean, building deep, hands-on expertise in yacht engineering operations and maintenance. Calm under pressure and highly safety-focused, he’s known for delivering efficient, reliable results even in demanding situations. His yachting background also includes charter experience in guest-facing and leadership roles, along with time as a small vessel captain - giving him a well-rounded understanding of both technical performance and the charter standard.

Passionate about hospitality and guest service, Janke takes pride in maintaining high interior standards with a keen eye for detail, while leading the team with positivity and efficiency. Karlo is our Cape Town–born Chief Officer, known for his easygoing nature, steady hands, and love for anything on the water. Whether he’s running tenders, setting up toys, or passage planning, Karlo brings a relaxed confidence that guests instantly feel comfortable around. When he’s off duty, you’ll usually find him on the golf course, convincing everyone it’s “just one more round.” His upbeat energy and passion for adventure make him a fun and reliable part of the team.

Rory brings over 12 years of culinary experience across private and charter yachts, luxury villas, restaurants and resorts, having worked aboard vessels up to 74m and in some of the world’s most remote cruising destinations. Classically trained and highly versatile, he is known for his refined cuisine, structured galley management and ability to deliver exceptional guest experiences, from intimate fine dining to large-scale events for up to 120 guests. Passionate about travel, sustainability and cultural exploration, Rory enjoys surfing, diving, fishing, mountain biking and supporting charitable initiatives around the world.
