Captain David Meyer
Master
Motor Yacht BG Charade
When someone asks me “how long have you been in yachting” I can truthfully answer “my whole life.” I grew up in a family involved in yachting from a very young age, and it goes back to my great grandfather and great uncle who were very active in the Fort Lauderdale yachting community. I learned how to run a boat when I was eight, taught myself navigation in Jr. Highschool, and ran my first 120’ yacht at age nineteen. It’s just something I have always done. I would spend the winters in Florida running the Gulf Coast, and the summers in the Midwest on the rivers and Great Lakes. In my twenty’s I spent eight years in the US Navy where I met my wife (who is the Chef on BG Charade) of thirty years. Together we have logged tens of thousands of miles up and down the East Coast, Bahamas, Florida Keys and Gulf Coast. We have three children and two grandchildren. I have a Master of Business Administration degree from Grand Canyon University, and am a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans. I am blessed to have the job that I do alongside my wife, because I have a job that allows people forget about their day-to-day, and spend a week having the time of their lives. It’s the best job in the world, and I hope to welcome you aboard soon.

Arthur Colaljo
Chief Engineer
Motor Yacht BG Charade
I’m Arthur Colaljo and I’m a Filipino yacht crew member with over 25 years of engineering experience in commercial shipping. I am known for being a jokester and an easygoing comrade to my co-workers, always keeping the mood light while getting the job done. Outside of work, I enjoy collecting speakers and I am an avid fan of 80s to 90s rock bands. Music is my constant companion whether I am off duty or working in the engine room.
I got into yachting as a new chapter in my seafaring career because I saw a big potential for growth in the yachting industry. One thing I really appreciate is also seeing land, something I missed during my time in commercial shipping, where we could go a month without catching sight of the shore. It feels so good to be grounded. Yachting has not only sharpened my technical skills but also reminded me why I love life at sea—the people, the places, and the purpose.

Chef
Motor Yacht BG Charade
I grew up in the Pacific Islands of the Philippines and Japan in my younger years where I learned so much about Asian and island cuisine and Asian cooking techniques, seafood, and tropical produce. Having come from a military family, we traveled from the West Coast to the Eastern US where I learned about Mexican and Southern Cuisine. Since moving to sub-tropical Florida for the last 25 years, it had allowed me to master gardening tropical fruit trees and vegetables which became my passion. I also grew organic chickens, fermenting and canning vegetables that I grew. I perfected my cooking skills at a classical French culinary school, Le Cordon Bleu. For 5 years, I pursued commercial cooking catering on large weddings and birthday parties, and corporate events, before I tried working on restaurant and yacht club environments. I really enjoyed the personal touch of serving my guests in a small intimate setting where I can fully customize and be more creative aboard a yacht setting, and it is a joy for me to cook for guests. The food is prepared with love, and seeing guests happy and enjoying the food I created feels fantastic! My specialties are Mediterranean and Asian cuisine as well as anything Vegan, Vegetarian and Gluten Free.
During my time at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts I worked at Epcot’s Food and Wine Festival along with famous Chefs from around the world, and I have been featured in a Dockwalk Magazine article about female yacht Chefs. In addition to my Culinary Arts Degree, I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree from Old Dominion University. My husband and I reside in Central Florida and have three children and two grandchildren.
