Steffen, originally from Germany, began his career in the German Navy, starting as an ordinary seaman before advancing to the role of electrician master. He gained extensive experience supervising the construction of various superyachts at Amels and Turquoise shipyards. Additionally, he has worked aboard several prestigious sailing yachts worldwide, further refining his expertise in this specialized field. Steffen is known for his exceptional work ethic, friendly nature, and strong leadership skills, particularly in mentoring his second engineer. We are thrilled to have him as a valued member of our team.

Tomas was born in Porto, Portugal, and has built an extensive career in sailing with a strong expertise in rigging. His journey began with dinghy sailing, starting in Optimists and progressing to the 420 class. He was a member of the Portuguese Olympic team for the 470 class from 2012 to 2014, competing in prestigious international events such as the European and World championships, achieving impressive results. Following his competitive dinghy sailing career, he spent six years coaching Laser and 420 sailors at "Clube de Vela Atlántico" and "BBDouro." During this time, he transitioned into yacht racing, competing in the ORC fleet and match racing, where he secured several titles. His experience has made him highly skilled in tuning and optimization, essential aspects of competitive sailing.

Gabriela has 6 years yachting experience on motor yachts, sailing yachts and support vessels ranging from 35m-145m. She was trained with an extremely high level of service and work ethic and strives for this on every boat that she works on. She is passionate about new build and refit projects and has a good eye for detail and design, and a keen interest in materials and maintenance methods. Gabriel is a perfectionist with a positive mindset, and an enduring attitude. She enjoys problem-solving and finding practical solutions whilst communicating clearly and effectively, striving for a positive atmosphere. She thoroughly enjoys serving guests with a positive and polite demeanor. Prior to her yachting career she worked in top restaurants and art galleries in Cape Town, and boutique sporting events across South Africa, learning the intricacies of high-end service, FOH management and events-organizing. She is also a passionate sailor and grew up in a coastal town in South Africa where sailing and watersports were an integral part of her lifestyle.

Jonathan, originally from South Africa, earned his bachelor's degree in Politics and Psychology there. His deep fascination with the sea soon led him to pursue opportunities in the Mediterranean and Caribbean, where he sought to gain extensive experience in yachting. Throughout his career, he has served aboard notable vessels such as the 50M sailing yacht THALIA in the Caribbean and the 50M motor yacht OCULUS. Highly driven and energetic, Jonathan is determined to advance his career, aspiring to become a bosun and eventually achieve the role of Captain.

Over the years, she has gained extensive experience as a stewardess on various yachts, refining her skills and broadening her expertise. With a strong background in yacht interior management and a meticulous attention to detail, she takes great pride in providing outstanding service to both guests and crew, ensuring their comfort and satisfaction. A dedicated team player, she is always ready to lend a helping hand wherever needed. Committed to maintaining a healthy and balanced lifestyle, she consistently strives to perform at her best. Hardworking and spontaneous, Tikopia also brings significant sailing experience as a skipper on long-distance voyages.

Raphael, born in France, graduated from the Culinary School in Lyon in 1993. Shortly after completing his studies, he began his career at a Michelin-starred restaurant, where he built a strong foundation in cooking and discovered his immense talent. Before transitioning to the yachting industry, Raphael honed his culinary expertise at several high-end restaurants in Cannes and Megève and served as a private chef for prominent families. Raphael then gained extensive experience on various yachts traveling the globe and refining his culinary skills. Working under intense pressure on both private and charter yachts, he developed exceptional adaptability, mastering the art of catering to diverse nationalities and meeting varied demands while consistently delivering top-tier cuisine. We are thrilled to welcome him back to the BURRASCA team.

Raphael Brenaud

Captain Robert graduated with an Honours Degree in Economics from Kingston University London in 1995 and has been a Captain for 25 years. He has cruised and chartered worldwide with many yachts and served on the Maltese Falcon for almost 10 years. He is therefore familiar with most of the best cruising grounds in the Med and the Caribbean as well as the Pacific after over a decade with the Maltese Falcon it was time for a change. In 2019 he was asked to take over the Perini Navi sailing yacht Silencio on a relief basis and stayed until the beginning of the pandemic, in March 2021, he returned to Silencio and completed her 20 year ABS survey, changed her to a commercial registry and subsequently helped the owners sell the yacht.
