Rob Winter, our First Mate, hails from Winterton, South Africa, where his family has been farming cattle for generations, and still do. Rob speaks English, basic Afrikaans, and Zulu. His first job out of high school was as a whitewater rafting guide on the Thugela river. After which he completed a diploma in drafting and subsequently worked in Cape Town drawing luxury apartments before joining the yachting industry in 2018 for a life of adventure. He spent his first 2 years working on sailboat deliveries, trans-Atlantic races and teaching scouts how to sail. Since then he has been working on motor yachts and has been First Mate since 2021. Rob believes in leading by example, ensuring both guests and crew feel at ease. He enjoys the challenge of creating unforgettable experiences for guests while keeping operations running smoothly. His ability to balance professionalism with a relaxed, welcoming attitude makes him a key player in delivering exceptional charters.
