James has been immersed in yachting since his early teens, starting out in competitive keelboat racing around the British Isles, including Fastnet campaigns and major inshore regattas. Alongside racing, he worked in shipyards specialising in composite repairs and lightweight boat construction before completing a degree in Yacht Design and Construction, with a focus on fluid dynamics and performance sailing craft. He moved into professional crewing in the mid-90s and later transitioned to motor yachts, building extensive experience across the Mediterranean, Caribbean, Bahamas, Norway and beyond.
His connection to the sea runs through everything he does, both professionally and in his downtime. When not onboard, he’s usually chasing waves with a surfboard or heading out for a downwind paddle.
