Born and raised in South Africa, Captain Hugh is an avid fisherman and seasoned sailor whose passion for life on the water has only deepened over time.

Hugh began his sailing career by embarking on an extraordinary 12,000 nautical mile journey aboard a 38-foot sailing yacht. This adventure included two Atlantic crossings and an unforgettable voyage along the East Coast of Africa, solidifying his dedication to sailing, fishing, and diving.

Hugh’s career continued to flourish as he gained valuable experience working on various charter yachts in the Caribbean, where he called home for six years, completing over one hundred term charters and sailing through the British Virgin Islands down to St. Vincent, the Grenadines, and Grenada.

Captain Hugh’s wealth of experience, combined with his enthusiasm for the sea, ensures that every journey aboard “Lush” is nothing short of extraordinary. He looks forward to welcoming you on board and crafting the trip of a lifetime.

Growing up along the Eastern Cape of South Africa, Maxime discovered her love for the sea early on. With a degree in Hospitality Management and three years of experience in luxury environments, she transitioned into yachting to blend her passion for the ocean with her culinary skills.

Maxime embarked on an extraordinary global adventure, including a circumnavigation and participation in the Oyster World Rally and the Oyster Antigua Regatta—experiences that deepened her love for sailing. She completed culinary training in Cape Town, earning an IYT Superyacht Chef qualification, which further honed her skills.

Having sailed over 60,000 nautical miles and worked in diverse global locations, Maxime’s cuisine reflects a rich blend of international flavors. Known for her vibrant personality and ability to thrive under pressure, she is dedicated to creating a guest-centered dining experience.

Born and raised in South Africa, Christivan felt a deep connection to the ocean, spending summer holidays along the South African coast in Mossel Bay. This passion eventually led him to complete his Yachtmaster and diving qualifications, setting the stage for a fulfilling maritime career.

Christivan began his journey as a Skipper for MedSailors in Croatia, where he thrived on the opportunity to share his love of sailing with guests, teaching them the ropes while also treating them to delicious meals.

Eager to take on new challenges, Christivan soon found himself on a larger vessel, becoming the First Mate on “Lush.” His blend of enthusiasm, skill, and a genuine love for the sea makes him an invaluable part of the crew.
