Miguel Alvarez is an experienced and accomplished Captain with over 27 years of sailing across some of the world’s most demanding and diverse cruising grounds — from the Gulf of Mexico and the Pacific Coast to the Sea of Cortez, Mediterranean, and Adriatic. Holding the RYA Yachtmaster Offshore Certificate of Competence, he brings a rare combination of professional certification, deep seamanship, and real-world command experience to every passage.
With more than 10,000 nautical miles under his belt as skipper, Miguel has commanded monohulls and catamarans from 45 to 55ft across multiple seasons of private and charter operations on the Croatian coast. He completed an Atlantic crossing as Co-Skipper in 2022, delivering a vessel from the Netherlands to Martinique — a testament to his ability to plan, navigate, and lead extended offshore passages.
Beyond his sailing career, Miguel is a natural leader and communicator. A business owner, trained sailing instructor at Sailweek Academy, and founder of a Rotary Club chapter in Mexico, he brings strong organisational skills, guest-facing experience, and a calm, professional demeanour to crew life. He is certified in First Aid, VHF Marine Radio, Sea Survival, and holds STCW endorsements. He is fluent in Spanish and English, and holds dual Mexican and Spanish nationality.

Fran Radek is a skilled and energetic skipper based in Croatia, with hands-on experience commanding sailboats and catamarans up to 60ft along the Dalmatian coast. Currently working with Sailweek across Split and Dubrovnik while also taking on private charter work, he brings a strong blend of technical seamanship, guest service, and deep local knowledge of the Adriatic.
Holding the RYA Yachtmaster Offshore Certificate of Competence alongside a Croatian Skipper Category C licence, Fran is fully qualified for both coastal and offshore command. He manages all aspects of charter operations independently — from passage planning and weather routing to anchoring, mooring, and marina communications — always prioritising guest safety and an exceptional onboard experience.
A Master’s student in Kinesiology with a specialism in sailing and education, Fran brings a coaching mindset and natural ability to connect with guests. With 2 years of dinghy and racing yacht experience underpinning his professional career, and hobbies including Taekwondo and coaching, he is disciplined, adaptable, and a natural team leader who thrives in the fast-paced charter environment.

Lara Maras is an enthusiastic and dedicated Deck/Stewardess with hands-on experience aboard sailing yachts and catamarans on the Croatian Adriatic coast. Based in Croatia and currently working with Sailweek in Split, she combines a warm, guest-focused approach with a strong work ethic and genuine passion for life at sea.
Trained through the Sailweek Hostess Academy and the Yachtie Careers Yacht Stewardess programme, Lara brings a high standard of interior service — from immaculate cabin presentation and fine dining table service to full laundry and provisioning management. On deck, she is equally capable, assisting with docking, fender handling, anchor operations, tender driving, and exterior maintenance.
Holding a Master’s degree in Behavioural Disorders and a Bachelor’s in Social Pedagogy, Lara brings exceptional interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and natural guest rapport to every charter. She is calm, detail-oriented, a strong team player, and eager to develop her career in the professional yachting industry.
