A graduate of Culver Academy, he holds a degree in Marine Science from Florida Atlantic University, where he also became a certified dive instructor and licensed captain, operating scuba charters out of Boca Raton. This early foundation seamlessly evolved into a distinguished career in the motor yacht sector, which began in the Caribbean in the late 1980s.
By the early 1990s, JD was appointed project manager and build captain for a 105ft motor yacht at Broward Marine, remaining on board as Captain for four years. He has since led numerous new build and refit projects ranging from 105ft to 203ft, bringing a meticulous, hands-on approach to every stage of a yacht’s lifecycle.
Among his notable achievements, JD managed the build and operation of the first Triton Submersible (rated to 1,000ft), an exceptional asset utilized for both private use and charter, underscoring his forward-thinking capabilities and technical depth.
His extensive cruising grounds include the Mediterranean, Caribbean, Bahamas, South Florida, both the East and West Coasts of the United States, Central America, British Columbia, and Alaska.
