Originally from Johannesburg, South Africa, Marco brings over six years of maritime experience to M/Y MOKA. With a strong background in competitive swimming, lifesaving, and water polo, Marco naturally transitioned from coaching aquatic sports to pursuing a full-time career in yachting.
He completed an intensive 21-month cadetship program with military-style = training aboard luxury sailing catamarans, which laid the foundation for his disciplined approach and strong work ethic. Since then, Marco has worked on vessels up to 62 meters, quickly rising through the ranks from deckhand to bosun, and now serves as First Officer aboard the 42m MOKA.
He holds a Master of Yachts 200GT Unlimited, is a certified powerboat and personal watercraft instructor, and is actively working toward his OOW certification. Marco is passionate about all things sport—from football and tennis to motorsport—and brings a high level of energy and leadership to the deck team. He also has a deep commitment to youth development and aspires to work with children from challenging backgrounds or with learning disabilities.

Originally from Belgium, Bart brings a diverse background and eight years of maritime experience to the M/Y Moka. Before stepping aboard his first yacht in 2017, Bart spent three years working across Southeast Asia as a dive instructor, developing strong water skills, safety awareness, and a passion for teaching.

Sam is a young yet well-seasoned professional whose career has been nothing short of inspiring. From the very beginning, his passion for the sea and dedication to his craft set him apart. His journey began aboard the renowned 62m Roma, where he steadily worked his way up from deckhand to First Officer
earning the respect of both crew and guests along the way. By the end of 2022, ready for the next chapter, Sam took the helm of the 37m Arion, where he truly came into his own as a leader. His time as captain of Arion was marked by his hands-on approach, calm demeanour, and commitment to delivering outstanding charters.
In October 2024, Sam brought his talent, energy, and expertise to MOKA, where he now leads the team with the same passion and drive that have defined his career. Sam’s boundless enthusiasm and “can-do” attitude are infectious, creating a positive atmosphere on board that resonates with both guests and crew. His leadership style blends professionalism with approachability, ensuring that every guest experience aboard MOKA is not only seamless but truly memorable.
When Sam isn’t at the helm, you’ll likely find him on the padel court enjoying a fast-paced match with friends, or on the golf course honing his swing. A lover of the outdoors, he’s equally at home skiing down alpine slopes or hiking off the beaten path, always seeking adventure and new horizons. Sam Taylor
Captain
Tom is a proactive and enthusiastic Chief Engineer with a strong work ethic and a committed approach to his role. He thrives in challenging environments and takes pride in maintaining the highest standards in the engine room and across all vessel operations. Known for being both thorough and efficient, he has a keen eye for detail and a strong focus on performance and reliability.
With experience across both offshore commercial shipping and the superyacht industry, Tom brings a broad and well-rounded understanding of marine engineering systems and machinery. He works equally well independently and as part of a team, and is recognised for his clear communication skills and professional, approachable manner onboard.
Tom began his maritime career at 18 and was promoted to Chief Engineer at 27, becoming the youngest in his intake to achieve an Unlimited Chief Engineer’s License—an achievement he is particularly proud of. He holds a Professional Diploma in Marine Management and a Higher National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, both achieved with strong academic performance.
In his free time, Tom enjoys spending time with his partner Karina and their baby girl Yasmin. He is also an avid golfer and enjoys making the most of his time ashore on the course.

Carla is a seasoned yachting professional with over 14 years of international experience across the Mediterranean, Caribbean, and the Americas. Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, and raised in the remote landscapes of Botswana and Mozambique, Carla developed a deep-rooted love for exploration and diverse cultures from a young age. After completing her education, she began her career teaching English as a foreign language before setting sail from Palma de Mallorca, launching a dynamic career on board luxury yachts. She has since trained with The British Butler Academy and is a certified Super Yacht Purser, currently advancing her expertise through a Super Yacht Management Certification.
Carla brings a refined eye for detail, leadership, and service excellence to every role. Beyond the deck, she’s passionate about fitness—especially HIIT and Bodypump training—and is an avid long-distance swimmer. She also has a keen interest in collecting vintage items from vinyl records to classic cars. Driven by a desire to give back, Carla aspires to one day lead impactful community development projects across Africa through corporate social investment initiatives.

Originally from the rugged coastline of Cornwall, Jamie has spent most of his life by the sea. With a background as a trusted surf instructor, qualified lifeguard, and hands-on experience in general building and plumbing, he has always thrived in physically active, practical environments. Drawn by a deep connection to the ocean and a desire to explore the world, Jamie transitioned into the yachting industry to chase new adventures and meet like-minded people from across the globe. Motivated and hardworking, Jamie is committed to building a long-term career in yachting. He is currently working toward his (OOW) certification, with ambitions to rise through the ranks. Over the past three years, he has gained valuable shipyard experience, including painting, repairs, and maintenance, which has sharpened his eye for detail and instilled a disciplined, results driven approach to his work.

Born in London and holding German nationality, Ben brings over a decade of experience across luxury yachts, fine dining restaurants, and world-class hospitality establishments. Trained at the South African Chefs Academy, he holds a City & Guilds Diploma in Culinary Arts and has built an impressive career delivering exceptional culinary experiences in both private and charter environments.
Most recently, Ben served as Acting Head Chef aboard the 82m charter yacht M/Y Alfa Nero, where he took full responsibility for guest dining, provisioning, menu development, and galley operations. Prior to this, he worked as Sous Chef aboard the 116m M/Y Multiverse, catering for VVIP guests as part of a six-chef team on a world-cruising programme. His extensive yachting background also includes sole chef positions on yachts ranging from 25m to 38m, operating throughout the Mediterranean.
Ben's culinary style combines refined contemporary cuisine with a strong focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients and sustainable sourcing. Passionate about sustainable agriculture, permaculture, and culinary innovation, he enjoys creating memorable dining experiences tailored to guest preferences while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and presentation.
Known for his positive attitude, adaptability, and calm approach under pressure, Ben is a valuable addition to the MOKA team. We look forward to the creativity, energy, and expertise he will bring to our onboard experience.

Nicola was born and raised in South Africa, where she developed a strong foundation in hospitality and service. After completing her studies in Events Management, she gained experience in a variety of hospitality and management roles before pursuing her career in the yachting industry.
She most recently worked as a Sole Stewardess on a busy charter yacht cruising the South of France and the Balearics. She was responsible for delivering a seamless, high-end guest experience while overseeing all aspects of the interior. Known for her attention to detail, organisation, and calm, professional approach, Nicola takes pride in creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere on board and ensuring every guest feels relaxed and well cared for throughout their stay.
With a natural love for travel and an appreciation for different cultures, Nicola was drawn to yachting as a way to combine her passion for hospitality with her sense of adventure. She particularly enjoys the creative side of her role, from beautifully presented service to thoughtful finishing touches that elevate the guest experience.

Amy is a motivated and enthusiastic newcomer to the yachting industry, born and raised in Kent, UK. Her background in HR has equipped her with strong attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to anticipate and respond to people’s needs.
Amy has began her yachting journey in the Mediterranean, quickly adapting to life on board and developing a passion for creating seamless and memorable guest experiences.
Prior to yachting, Amy made the move to Dubai, where she worked in real estate within a fast-paced, client-focused environment. This experience further developed her communication skills, adaptability, and ability to deliver a high level of service to an international clientele.
Outside of yachting, Amy has a strong passion for fitness and trains in Muay Thai, demonstrating discipline and focus. She is also a self-confessed foodie who enjoys dining out and discovering new restaurants.
