Fred is our dynamic and fierce leader of a Chief Officer onboard Nita K II. Extremely well versed in anything related to the ocean, he started his career at sea at the tender age of 6 years old, sailing his parents 26 ft sailing boat back and forth between Belgium and England, during the school holidays. He then went on to become a windsurf and dinghy sailing instructor at 17, which kickstarted his world travels. In 2012, Fred completed his sailing yacht master and cruised the Caribbean and Polynesia. After spending time as a captain on sailboats in the Caribbean and being surrounded by superyachts, he was inspired to become a superyacht captain. To that end Fred has now attained his Chief Mate 3000 GT and is currently working towards finishing his Master 3000 GT. Fred has a great sense of humour, always quick to jump in and give a helping hand wherever and whenever needed. His prodigious knowledge of sailing commands respect and he has a calm demeanour when needed. In any spare time, Fred can be found windsurfing, Kitesurfing, free diving, reading, or enjoying a sunny afternoon playing backgammon with a Turkish coffee. His secret vice is that he loves sea shanties (sailing folk songs) Legend has it, that he may be responsible for all the rain showers in the Caribbean due to his singing. He promises not to sing on this trip and aims to make your time onboard a safe but memorable one, ensuring your expectations are exceeded!
