Meet Mehmet, our charismatic Captain, who, with over 20 years’ experience sailing Turkish and Greek waters is a consummate professional when it comes to charters. From a young age he had a passion sailing, working his way up through the categories, developing his skill set and racing prowess. Now his reputation precedes him as, since 2008, he has competed in the Bodrum Cup, Tirhandil Cup and Bayk sailing races, coming first in his category every year since. For the last 12 years he has been a hands-on charter captain, involved in refits and every aspect of the boat. He has been with SALLYNA since 2022, and loves interacting with the guests, sharing his passion for the ocean and the joys of sail. Mehmet uses his extensive local knowledge to find secret anchorages that will exceed your expectations and looks forward to welcoming you onboard. Özlem is our professional Chief Stewardess and you will find her consistently friendly, yet efficient and always delighted to deliver on any requests. Since the age of 18 she has worked throughout the Mediterranean and Caribbean and has headed up crews for premier events such as the ANTIGUA and Monaco Yacht Shows. She is a creative thinker who is happy to take the initiative, and prides herself on the high level of service you will receive, and looks forward to welcoming you onboard SALLYNA.

Özlem Koşarer
Chief steward/ess
Having completed his vocational certifications in electrical, machinery and systems repair, Hakan went on to graduate, in 2015, as a Naval Petty Officer. He served for 4 years in the Turkish Navy working in the Machinery division, which involved the maintenance and repair of Naval warships. In 2021, he left the Navy and worked for an Engineering firm furthering his experience of draftsmanship and welding repair. However, he missed the ocean, and we are delighted he has joined the SALLYNA team to ensure the day-to-day smooth running of all the systems on board. Hakan loves being active and in any spare time can be found running or swimming, and he is looking forward to being hands on with the sailing and learning new skills.

Hakan Basar
Chief engineer
Selman is our enthusiastic and hard working First Mate. He started his maritime career in 2009, achieving his Yacht Captain certificate and then, graduating further, in 2013, from the Yalova Maritime University. Whilst studying he I worked on charter boats and as a student, was trained to do everything, from sailing, to cleaning, to serving guests. This was a great experience and gave him an overall insight into successful charters. Since then, he has sailed all over the Mediterranean, and has often been retained by yacht crews’ season on season due to his positive can-do attitude. We are delighted that Selman has joined the SALLYNA team and in any spare time you will find him keeping busy playing Chess, computer games and hiking.

Prior to transferring her skills to, the yachting Industry, Burcu worked in communications and marketing and has a degree in Archaeology. With a true passion for life and adventure she loves travel and the opportunities that yachting opens for her. Burcu is hard working and diligent and prides herself in completing all her tasks to a high standard. With an open and friendly nature, she loves meeting new people and can’t wait to say hello and to ensure that you feel at home throughout your trip.

Onur is our young and ambitious deckhand. Having always dreamt of working at sea he graduated in 2018, from Bodrum High School with his Yacht Captain certification. During this time, he interned on Gulets along the coast, developing his sailing knowledge and techniques. He is passionate about watersports and is a very competent tender driver. He looks forward to meeting you and assisting you with your water adventures.

He has worked across hotels, restaurants, resorts, and private yachting, with experience in fast-paced, high-standard environments including luxury resorts such as Amanruya, Bodrum and the Amanyara, in Turks & Caicos. Passionate about great food and consistently high standards, he is a friendly and reliable presence on board, always focused on creating memorable dining experiences for guests.
