Hajrun Kabaena, known as Once, is a skilled speedboat driver from North Maluku who ensures safe, seamless transfers and assists guests during dives with a warm, memorable presence.

Arif is from the Toraja region of Central Sulawesi. In addition to managing propulsion, he focuses on all things electrical — a key area of expertise on a luxury yacht. Preventive maintenance is central to Arif’s work strategy, while redundancy and flexibility allow him to keep all systems running smoothly at all times. His organization and attention to detail make Arif an exceptionally capable engineer.

Amsar, like many of our crew, is from Sulawesi and a member of the famous Bugis Tribe, known for its seafaring expertise. He has sailed extensively throughout the Indonesian archipelago on multiple vessels. Amsar expertly reads tides, weather, currents, and surrounding boat activity to ensure you reach your next destination safely. As Sequoia’s Chief Safety Officer, he keeps the yacht on course and is always ready to make last-minute adjustments when needed.

Eking is our second crew member from Toraja. He focuses on fuel management but also lends a hand with many tasks that help facilitate your charter — from filling and organizing dive tanks and equipment to preparing the Tracker speedboat and setting up beautiful lunches and dinners on your private islands.

From the island of Kalimantan, Evan is SEQUOIA’s highly experienced Dive Instructor, with nearly 2,000 certifications to his name. Equally at home guiding seasoned divers or introducing guests to the underwater world for the first time, he brings deep knowledge of Indonesia’s premier dive sites and an encouraging, professional approach. For larger groups, Evan leads alongside additional instructors, ensuring every guest enjoys safe, seamless, and unforgettable diving experiences in the Coral Triangle.

Born in Bengkulu, Sumatra, Yessi holds a CPA from the School of Economics at the University of Indonesia. An entrepreneur by nature, she left a Fortune 500 career to found Sequoia Yacht.
With a deep appreciation for travel, design, and the art of hosting, she is known for translating complex journeys into seamless, considered experiences. Alongside the Sequoia crew, she is PADI Advanced certified, bringing both expertise and quiet confidence to life at sea.

Ali, born in Lemo-Lemo, Bulukumba — Sequoia’s birthplace — comes from a lineage of boat builders and sailors. Part of Sequoia’s original build in 2014, he is now a certified Chief Officer who guides guests through every journey, from speedboat rides to reef and island explorations.
