Tristan grew up by the ocean, in Durban, South Africa, learning to surf and wakeboard at the age of 10. This opened the doors for him to compete at an international level in river canoeing and open water surf-ski racing. Tristan started lifesaving training at just 13 and qualified at 17, where he worked as a lifeguard for 4 years carrying out rescues on tenders and jet skis, sometimes in treacherous conditions. In 2016, Tristan sailed from Cape Town up the Mozambique channel to Nosybe island, in Madagascar on a 16m sailing yacht. This gave him his first taste of life at sea, which prompted him to join the yachting industry in 2018. He joined Silver Wind in 2019 as bosun and was recently promoted to Chief Officer. With his expertise in water activities, management and maintenance on deck, Tristan will ensure that you have a fun and memorable experience on board and guarantee your safety at all times.
