Bournemouth born Jonny joined SIREN with many skills. Putting it bluntly, Jonny Scissorhands was happily snipping away at his Barbershop in Bournemouth back in 2009 when a client waxed lyrical about the yachting industry. That very moment his future turned on its head, and he made the choppy transition to deckhand. Since departing Bournemouth, Jonny has also worked in Yacht Management in Perth and as a Trade Assistant in Australian Iron Ore mines. Jonny joined SIREN in 2020 with his Chief Mates 3000 ticket, 10 years yachting experience, and an assortment of barbershop banter. Whether exploring on the tender or a last-minute hair agenda, Jonny will no doubt be a cut above the rest.

Our personal trainer deckhand Jacques, is sure to put guests through their fitness paces on board. He is a well sought after sportsman in South Africa, having turned down headhunters for the South African National Judo, Rugby league, Dodgeball and AFL teams, all to pursue his yachting dreams. Is there a sport this man can’t do?! There is much more than meets the eye with this saffa, in his past life he worked as a medical rep, assisting in many types of surgeries from trauma to spinal. Swapping scrubs for his SIREN polo, Jacques is loving his ocean adventure.

With a passion for the ocean and a Mechanical Engineering degree under his belt, it was a natural synthesis to weld his technical experience with life at sea. Born in Cape Town, Jaco grew up fishing along the Cape coast of South Africa, so if it's a fishing experience you are after, Jaco is no apprentice. He will crank up the energy with a sunrise tender ride to a secluded bay, allowing you to snorkel and showing you the mechanics and skills of the biggest catch. On board SIREN since 2018, Jaco obtained his Yachtmaster ticket and is working his way up the ranks. The world is his oyster as to whether he navigates towards the engineering department or role of officer, both will reward him with equal satisfaction. A big fan of Pink Floyd and the Rolling Stones, Jaco was part of a Garage Band playing bass guitar when he was younger. When not assisting in the engine room Jaco loves taking guests on the toys and tenders.

Growing up on a dairy farm in Cornwall it was by no means a natural route to a career at sea, but it did instil in Richard a sense of hard work. With a Master’s degree in architectural design, followed by a stint teaching graduate degree courses then at culinary school, Richard’s life changed after visiting his brother, a yacht Chef in Antibes. It wasn't long before he landed his first job in yachting as crew chef, though time in the galley didn't whet his appetite, so he progressed to deckhand and quickly earned his Captain's stripes. With over 26 years at sea, 20 of those holding his Master's license, and with thousands of nautical miles clocked, Richard has crossed the Atlantic more than 50 times. He has explored Alaska's waters, the Galapagos Islands and transited the Panama, Suez and Corinth canals. He has several years of shoreside experience focusing on yacht operations, regulatory and human resources management and supports a fleet of over 20 private and commercial yachts. On board SIREN since 2017, Richard’s number one priority is the safety of both his guests and crew.

After completing his degree in Architectural Technology in Scotland John packed up his bagpipes and swapped his kilt for a scuba tank, earning his open water diving ticket in South East Asia's Gili islands off Lombok, Indonesia. A member of the Scottish Sailing Team, and an avid sailor throughout his youth, John had the wind in his sails and a thirst for the deep blue. One of his favorite experiences to date was in 2010 when he and two friends squeezed into a Fiat Panda and drove from London to Mongolia, spending over two and a half months in the Mongol Rally raising money for Mercy Corps Mongolia. John joined SIREN in 2017 and when not up in the wheelhouse he is at home in Glasgow playing Spanish guitar to his wee daughter Isla. SIREN’s Braveheart, John, will take guests to utopia, ensuring everyone has a wee bit of fun.

Hailing from the Isle of Wight, a small island off the south coast of England, Callum grew up surrounded by fisherman and sailing boats. A graduate in Architecture and Carpentry, Callum loves working with his hands and creating bespoke pieces of furniture. Callum was about to travel around the world however he was introduced to yachting and took the decision to pursue his career on the ocean instead, combining his carpentry and watersports passions. Happiest in the water, Callum is an avid surfer and is responsible for SIREN’s watersports obstacle courses. If he's not chipping away on the deck or demonstrating the new e-foils, he might be found doing a HIIT or circuit workout in the gym. At home in the Isle of Wight, he spends most of his time mountain biking or listening to tropical house music. Callum will also take drone footage of guests’ time on board and turn it into the perfect home video. Callum joined the crew in 2018 and has diligently worked hard since then achieving his officer of the watch qualification resulting in a promotion to Second and then First Officer.
