BIO: Alan was born in Solihull, UK, a suburban town just about as far from the ocean as it is possible to get in the United Kingdom. Upon graduation from Solihull School, he completed a mechanical engineering apprenticeship and subsequently worked within the aerospace industry. However, the winds of change blew ever stronger when Alan discovered the yachting industry. After stints in the galley and in interior service, the deck department beckoned. Working through the ranks, he took command of his first vessel in 1987. When Alan is not working aboard SURINA, he is a highly regarded relief captain for a number of vessels - or, he’s on the golf course.
