Stephen’s first introduction to yachting was 26 years ago, when he had the opportunity to deliver a 100-foot yacht from Chicago to Antigua with a family friend who was also a yacht captain. This voyage encompassed the Great Lakes, Welland and Erie Canals, Hudson River, and Atlantic Ocean. The ever-changing scenery and diverse workload were an immediate attraction. After several years progressing from deckhand to mate, it became clear this could become a career. Stephen has since cruised extensively along the East Coast of the United States, from Halifax, Canada to the Florida Keys, including three visits to Bermuda. A significant portion of his experience has been dedicated to charter operations in the Caribbean, including the BVI, USVI, and the Bahamas. An opportunity to build a 142’ Christensen over two years further expanded Stephen’s cruising experience, taking him from Washington State through California and down into the Baja Peninsula of Mexico.
