We truly couldn’t have asked for a better crew or a more meaningful week sailing through the British Virgin Islands. Celebrating my grandparents’ 60th wedding anniversary on this tandem trip was already special, but James and Phee elevated the experience beyond anything our family could have imagined.
Phee was the absolute loveliest—gracious, elegant, and endlessly hospitable. Every meal she prepared was a work of art: vibrant, colorful, and full of flavor. My favorite meal of the entire trip was her poke bowl—fresh, bright, and absolutely delicious. And her desserts were unforgettable. The rocky road bars and macadamia nut cookies were some of the best cookies I’ve ever had—moist, memorable, and the kind of treats you’d expect to find in a fancy New York bakery. Her warmth and care were felt in every detail, from the beautiful table settings to the way she quietly refreshed our cabins each day.
James was an exceptional captain—calm, capable, and always attentive. He kept the trip running smoothly from start to finish, and his cocktails quickly became an afternoon highlight. His skill on the water was matched only by his talent behind the bar.
Some of my favorite moments came from the places we visited. Our day in Little Harbor was a standout—snorkeling among sea turtles, stingrays, and jellyfish felt magical. I also loved walking along the soft, open beaches of Anegada with my mom and sister, soaking in the quiet beauty of the island together.
We were able to celebrate my dad’s 60th birthday during the trip, which made the week even more meaningful. My dad has been bravely fighting a rare cancer called cholangiocarcinoma since last September. After undergoing surgery in December, he is currently showing no evidence of disease—something we are endlessly grateful for—and he will continue regular checkups over the next five years. In so many ways, he is a living miracle. My mom made a beautiful, heartfelt speech to the family that evening, and it was one of the most special moments of the entire trip.
Together, James and Phee created an atmosphere that was both elevated and wonderfully relaxed. The boat truly became a home on the water. We loved the thoughtful touches: the candlelit tables each evening, the personalized Yetis that kept our drinks cool all week, and the fresh towels delivered halfway through the trip that made us feel so cared for. Phee’s quiet gestures—like slipping in to make our beds and tidy our bathrooms—were small acts that made a big difference.
What stood out most was their perfect balance of professionalism and genuine warmth. They joined our conversations with ease and laughter, yet always gave our family the space to connect, reflect, and celebrate together.
James and Phee didn’t just host our trip—they made it unforgettable, in every way that matters. And I hope they know that they now have homes in Georgia, Kentucky, New York, Oklahoma, and Colorado. They will always have a place with us.
We had such an amazing time in the BVI's on the 54' Bali Catamaran with Captain James Cotter and Chef Phee!
I had sailed on the Oceana with my family of 5 in late july and had to go back again with friends!
The attention to detail to customize our week to meet our needs was off the charters fabulous! Sailing, fishing, snorkeling, swimming, sea scootering, paddle boarding, dining, fabulous drinks, great wines, cab ride with Sweet Willie T, Coco Maya dancing, lobsters in Anegada, hiking, The Baths, beautiful sunsets.....
Everyone had the best time and agrees it's the only way to vacation!! Can't wait to do it again!
