Zach began his maritime career in the U.S. Navy in 2005 as a SONAR Technician, completing advanced electronics training in the Great Lakes before attending specialized schooling in San Diego. He was later assigned to the USS Boone, where he participated in Eastern Pacific patrols targeting self-propelled semi-submersibles and conducting drug-interdiction operations. After his Navy service, Zach continued working at sea as a PADI MSDT, teaching and leading dives around the world. His introduction to yachting came unexpectedly when a friend in St. Maarten needed an instructor for a charter, an opportunity that brought him back to ocean life, now with enhanced amenities and global travel.
Since entering the yachting industry in 2013, Zach has cruised extensively throughout the Caribbean, the Bahamas, and the U.S. East Coast, and has captained vessels in Palau, Mexico, Central America, and the Mediterranean. He also served as the build captain for XWAVE, overseeing the vessel’s construction and delivery before taking her to sea.
Outside of work, Zach enjoys tinkering with his vehicles and spending quality time with his young family.

Growing up in North West England, north of Manchester, it was clear from an early age that sport and adventure was in Blurge’s blood. After graduating college, he was an instructor at Tower Wood Outdoor Education centre, teaching children and adults watersports and land based activities. To satisfy the travel bug, it was time to take a break and travel the world. With trips to Australia then New Zealand, Blurge found yachting where his watersports and people skills made him a valued crew member. Quickly climbing the ranks, he began running boats as captain, on both private and charter vessels. Married with two children, Blurge spent 14 years living in South Florida, extensively cruising the Caribbean, Bahamas, the U.S. East Coast and the Great Lakes. Following this, he moved to Spain in 2014 and was also able to gain further knowledge and experience with different Mediterranean cruising areas. When not adventuring around the world, you will find Blurge cycling, trail running around Mallorca or spending quality time with his two children.
